The Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) and the Malaysian Technology Development Corporation (MTDC) have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This partnership is dedicated to propelling Malaysia’s youth into the realms of Industry 4.0 and technopreneurship, signifying a significant milestone in the government’s unwavering commitment to fostering youth development and steering technological innovation.
This MoU builds upon the prior successful collaboration between KBS and MTDC, where both parties inked a Memorandum of Cooperation in March of this year. That collaboration was aimed at transforming Technical and Vocational Education (TVET) Programmes, and it took place at the Kuala Lumpur Industrial Training Institute.
Under this new alliance, MTDC will extend its support to KBS through advisory services and assistance, alongside the introduction of a teaching factory for educational delivery to university students under the TVET programmes.
The range of advisory services and support provided will encompass accreditation, competency development, knowledge transfer, equipment upgrading, capacity-building programs, and the promotion of education and professional training in technology-related fields.
Additionally, MTDC will assume a pivotal role in implementing the Teaching Factory initiative. This includes upgrading facilities and teaching equipment to create a more conducive learning environment for students.
Mohammad Hazani Hassan, CEO of MTDC, said, “By collaborating closely with the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Institusi Latihan Kemahiran Belia dan Sukan (ILKBS), it provides us with an opportunity to establish a vibrant ecosystem that empowers youth and accelerates technological advancements in Malaysia. We aspire to create a pool of competent TVET talents for high-paying jobs in deeptech and Industry 4.0.”
He also emphasised the importance of this partnership in facilitating networking opportunities between MTDC and its ecosystem companies with ILKBS.
