The Singapore Deep-Tech Alliance (SDTA) and Innovate UK have successfully hosted their inaugural joint technology showcase day, featuring eight pioneering companies from the UK. These innovative businesses presented their cutting-edge solutions in person to selected investors and business partners in Singapore.
The technology showcase day highlighted a diverse range of solutions and technologies spanning additive manufacturing, industrial IoT, advanced sensors, digital transformation, robotics, AI, and VR. All these products and solutions are tailored for advanced manufacturing applications, including additive manufacturing, enhancing safety in manufacturing lines, and expediting biotech processes.
Over the past eight months, SDTA collaborated closely with these eight companies as part of the Innovate UK Global Incubator Programme Singapore. This partnership provided invaluable mentorship opportunities and access to resources for business growth.
The companies benefited from SDTA’s extensive network, deep-tech entrepreneurs in Singapore, and sector experts from prestigious institutions like the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), Enterprise Singapore, and Nanyang Technological University.
Clara Chen, co-founding managing partner of SDTA, expressed her satisfaction with the progress: “Throughout the Innovate UK Global Incubator Programme Singapore, these eight companies consistently exceeded our expectations. This showcase provided an excellent platform for this year’s cohort to present their solutions and capture the attention of key industry stakeholders.”
Singapore’s status as an advanced manufacturing powerhouse was underscored by Luuk Eliens, co-founding managing partner of SDTA: “By leveraging our external network and Singapore’s innovation ecosystem, we believe there are significant opportunities for UK-based companies to establish a strong presence in local markets. SDTA takes pride in witnessing some portfolio companies gaining traction in the local market.”
The participating companies seized this opportunity to introduce their solutions to the ASEAN region, actively seeking local partnerships and funding opportunities, ranging from seed to series A stages.
Jon Hazell, partnership manager at Global Incubator, Innovate UK, emphasized the importance of collaborations: “We are delighted to collaborate with the Singapore Deep-Tech Alliance, creating opportunities for advanced manufacturing companies to develop solutions deployable in Singapore and the wider ASEAN region.
“Through the Innovate UK Global Incubator Programme Singapore, we aimed to inspire collaborations between large corporates and UK-based start-ups. Such collaborations are crucial for developing relevant, cutting-edge innovations with potential for commercialization and impact.”
