SEEK, the powerhouse behind Southeast Asia’s leading career platforms JobStreet and JobsDB, has unveiled JobStreet Express, a user-friendly and free platform now live in Singapore.
This innovative initiative aims to bridge the gap in semi-skilled workforce needs for employers and provides hundreds of thousands of Singaporeans with a faster, easier, and safer job search experience.
Singapore’s semi-skilled job sector constitutes over 40% of the country’s job vacancies, with significant demand in vital industries like F&B, Retail, Hospitality, Logistics, and General Services. Despite this, filling these roles has been a challenge, with 34% of vacancies taking over six months to fill in 2022, as reported by the Ministry of Manpower.
JobStreet Express, developed over 18 months, was first introduced in Indonesia in October 2022, serving areas like Bali, Bandung, Surabaya, and Yogyakarta, with more expansions planned. The platform has already onboarded 29,000 companies and 425,000 talents in Indonesia during its beta phase.
Anshu Nahar, Managing Director, Express & Flex at SEEK, emphasized the platform’s commitment to the underserved semi-skilled segment. JobStreet Express utilizes SEEK’s advanced technology to cater to the specific needs of semi-skilled workers, ensuring a mobile-first approach to accommodate users frequently on the move.
The platform’s proprietary matching technology facilitates seamless connections between employers and talents based on experiences, availability, and preferences, promising to streamline the application process, reducing it to hours or days instead of weeks or months.
JobStreet Express is set to make resumes optional on the platform by the end of the year, simplifying the application process further. The platform will introduce optional paid features in the future to enhance speed and matching capabilities.
However, the fundamental functions, including posting semi-skilled roles and applying for jobs, will remain free and accessible to everyone across Singapore.
SEEK, with its 25 years of industry experience, remains committed to evolving and innovating, providing tailored solutions for the semi-skilled workforce. The platform’s growth is supported by a dedicated team of over 75 professionals in various domains, ensuring its continuous enhancement and expansion.
SEEK plans to extend JobStreet Express across the Asia-Pacific region, marking a significant step toward revolutionizing the job market for semi-skilled workers throughout the region.
