YTL Cement, Malaysia’s leading building materials group, and Pertubuhan Arkitek Malaysia (PAM) have signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) to introduce the nation’s inaugural Concrete Awards. This collaboration aims to celebrate outstanding achievements in architecture, innovation, and the versatility of concrete as a transformative building material.
The Concrete Awards will spotlight the role of concrete in shaping the built environment, recognising advancements in its development while celebrating its creative and aesthetic applications. Categories will honour excellence in Industrial, Commercial, Residential, Public and Institutional, and Conservation/Adaptive Reuse projects.
Rachel Yeoh, Executive Director of YTL Cement, said: “YTL Cement is committed to concrete as a sustainable building material, driven by innovation and development. The Concrete Awards provide an excellent platform to recognise architects who push design boundaries and creatively utilise concrete’s versatility.”
Adjunct Prof. Ar. Adrianta Aziz, President of PAM, added, “Events like the Concrete Awards drive industry progress. We are proud to partner with YTL Cement to honour Malaysia’s architects, whose exceptional work significantly impacts our environment.”
Submissions will be evaluated by a distinguished panel of seven jurors, including award-winning architects, academics, and representatives from PAM and YTL Cement. Judging will focus on design excellence, innovation, and sustainability in the use of concrete.
This initiative reinforces the importance of fostering sustainable practices and creativity in architecture, showcasing the potential of concrete in redefining construction and design. Details on application processes, eligibility, and submission deadlines will be available on the official YTL Cement and PAM websites in the coming weeks.
