U Mobile and Huawei Technologies (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to cooperate strategically in 5G Innovation technology and 5G to Business (5G-to-B) to accelerate 5G adoption for businesses.
The fields covered in the MoU include:
- Showcasing the full-fledged end-to-end 5G-to-B network and services capabilities to all levels of stakeholders, from government to end consumers. The showcase, which will include lab tests or live pilots, may also feature advanced technology solutions such as 5G-Innovation and scenario-based private network solutions. 5G technology components such as Radio (Green & Efficiency), Transport (Access & Backhaul), Core Network (Cloudification & Distribution), and more will also be covered.
- Developing a 5G Innovation Ecosystem comprising ICT and industry service integrators, as well as 5G solution partners across various industries. This ecosystem is designed to spur innovation and foster collaboration for all parties involved.

Simon Sun, CEO of Huawei Malaysia, highlighted that 5G will usher Malaysian businesses into an era of ultra-high speeds and low latency that will enable optimal cost and performance: “As a leader in 5G technologies, Huawei Malaysia is confident of providing our partner U Mobile with strategic support in powering an effective 5G business cycle for its customers, in addition to charting an impactful path to the innovative capabilities of 5G that will further boost digitalisation, automation, and IoT across many business sectors.”
The MoU was signed by Wong Heang Tuck on behalf of U Mobile and Simon Sun on behalf of Huawei Malaysia at the Malaysian Pavilion during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024 in Barcelona, Spain, witnessed by MCMC Chairman, Tan Sri Mohamad Salim Fateh Din.
