This year marks the 24th instalment of the World Congress on IT (WCIT) and the first time the event is hosted online in Malaysia because of the global pandemic. The innovative online 3D virtual pavilion proved to be the perfect platform to showcase Taiwan’s high-quality products and helped to massively increase the exposure of Taiwanese products in Malaysia.
One of the highlights of WCIT was the Global ICT Excellence Award which saw the Taiwanese government and manufacturers netting seven (7) awards. One of the brands bearing the Taiwan Excellence mark of quality, Acer, its subsidiary AEB (Acer e-enabling Service Business Inc.) won the “COVID-19 Best Industry Solutions” with its Taiwan Healthcare Associated Infection and Antimicrobial Resistance Surveillance System (THAS). The THAS system is touted as the best system in efforts against Covid-19, which was also created in effort to help Centers for Disease Control (CDC). This has further secured Taiwan’s reputation for its successful fight against the pandemic.
The virtual Smart Taiwan Pavilion combines 3D virtual modelling and 360-degree panoramic view to create a truly immersive experience for international buyers to experience the products and connect to manufacturers directly to discuss business opportunities. To fully demonstrate the innovative solutions of Taiwan’s ICT technology, the Ministry of Economic Affairs has 37 outstanding Taiwanese manufacturers in various fields, including 14 Taiwan Excellence award-winning brands.
Better Lives with Smart Products
Taiwan Excellence is the mark of quality for products that have passed a stringent selection process – based on R&D, Design, Quality and Marketing amongst other important criteria. “Smart Connectivity, Smart Living” was the theme for this year’s Taiwan Excellence and the 14 participating vendors showcased 22 ICT solutions, include: Apacer, In Win, Transcend, Aver, PLANET, IEI X QNAP, WiseChip, TBS Group, Her Sheng Chang, G-Winner, Big Good Design, In-Trust, Mercuries , and Eleclean.
Covid-19 has accelerated the global digital transformation and many companies have risen up to the challenge with related products, including Apacer’s industrial-grade smart remote monitoring software; Aver’s conferencing systems designed for mid to large scale meetings; Transcend’s shockproof and waterproof portable highspeed SSD solutions; and IEI X QNap’s network storage solutions and switches. These products are highly relevant to this digital transformation and attracted many inquiries from Malaysian businesses.
The WCIT has long been the premier information technology event in the world and this year’s event concluded on November 20th in yet another successful outing. A total of 4,000 industry players, government delegates, academics, and international speakers from over 100 nations participated in this event.
To further strengthen the global recognition of Taiwanese products, Taiwan Excellence will continue to build a strong marketing platform and engage with Malaysian consumers through social media such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and more.
