SME100 Northern Edition Returns With SAMENTA 35th Anniversary

SME100 returns to Penang after 10 years, in conjunction with the SAMENTA 35th Anniversary celebrations. The greatly anticipated awards ceremony was held at Setia SPICE Convention Centre in Penang.

The SME100 SAMENTA 35th Anniversary awards ceremony was graced with the attendance of Yang di-Pertua Negeri Pulau Pinang, Tuan Yang Terutama Tun Dato’ Seri Utama Ahmad Fuzi bin Haji Abdul Razak, deputy chief minister of Penang, Prof. Dr. P. Ramasamy, and Penang state exco for Trade, Industry & Entrepreneurship Development, Dato’ Haji Abdul Halim bin Haji Hussain to witness the northern region SMEs’ achievement.

Several other local associations such as Malaysia Printer Association and Penang Furniture and Timber Association joined in to celebrate this momentous occasion.

With the official endorsement by the Penang state government, the northern-region SME100 awards received overwhelming response from 178 companies from Penang, Kedah, Perak and Perlis submitting their nominations, exceeding the organisers’ target of 100 nominations.

The nominees had undergone a screening by the official credit reporting agency, CTOS, and official auditor, Baker Tilly Malaysia, and as a result, 38 SMEs have qualified as the SME100 awards winners.

“SME100 continues to be the most prestigious and aspirational awards for SMEs; with local editions now in Indonesia, Singapore, and Vietnam – making this a truly regional award. The success of the programme has also inspired many ‘copycat’ awards, which is a sign of the strength of the award in promoting the growth of SMEs,” said Datuk William Ng, managing director of Business Media International.

The SME100 SAMENTA 35th Anniversary award which is organised by Business Media International and SME Magazine and co-organised by Small and Medium Enterprise Association (SAMENTA), received the honourable endorsements by the Penang State Government, Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT), Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MICCI) Northern Region as supporting organisations, and Affin Bank Group as the sponsor of the prestigious event.

SME100 Awards is a business recognition awards programme recognising and celebrating fast-growing and the most innovative SMEs across Asean.
