Singapore-based live streaming solutions provider BeLive Technology has entered into a new partnership with ShopBack, Asia-Pacific’s leading shopping and rewards platform, to power its video-first commerce efforts.
The collaboration marks BeLive Technology’s expansion across Asia as well as the opportunity to explore additional Direct-to-Consumer (D2C) markets. The new solution allows ShopBack live viewers to access exclusive promotions, creative video content, and interactive video features powered by BeLive Technology.
BeLive Technology operates from Singapore and Vietnam and said in a statement that it has delivered over 5 billion minutes of live video to over 100 million viewers worldwide. ShopBack powers over US$3.5 billion in annual sales for over 10,000 online and in-store merchant partners.
ShopBack launched its first live stream featuring brand ambassador and local artiste Annette Lee as part of its 8th Birthday Campaign in June. It has since been running live stream weekly, where viewers tune in to watch curated content, chat with hosts and fellow viewers in real time, play games, and enjoy exclusive promotions on partner merchants.
ShopBack’s live streams powered by BeLive Technology aim to maximize interaction between its hosts and the community, to deliver an entertaining shopping experience. Its first live stream saw its vouchers sold out within minutes of going live.
Merchant partners will get access to ShopBack’s live campaigns which are curated specially for them. The immersive experience and interaction between merchant partners and viewers will help build customer loyalty and a stronger community.
Live shopping has grown exponentially throughout Asia in recent years. The New Retail 2020 report from iKala found that the number of live sales in the region increased from 13 percent to 67 percent in 2020.
The same study found that Singapore and Thailand either consumed more through live selling or spent more time engaged with merchants. That same year a joint report from Meltwater and Shopee revealed that consumer behaviour and online commerce had evolved significantly in Singapore due to the pandemic.
With this in mind, figures from research and markets stated that the social commerce industry in Singapore is expected to grow by 77.5 percent on an annual basis and will reach US $940.9 million by the end of 2022.
