Seven start-ups from the 18th Cohort of the Cyberview Living Lab® Accelerator (CLLA) programme recently garnered interests exceeding RM36 million and over 30 partnership proposals from investors, funding agencies, and corporate and industry partners during the Demo Day event held on 15th May 2024 at Rekascape, organized by Cyberview Sdn Bhd.
The seven Cohort 18 start-ups include MengajiOnline.com, NexoPrima, MindnRobotics, SOLVNEX, Smartpeep, Bual Design, and BriqBloq, all focusing on digital and data-centric solutions for smart and green living by leveraging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), the industrial Internet of Things (IoT), and robotics.
Cyberview CEO Kamarul Arifin Abdul Samad stated, “Our CLLA programme is a well-established platform to uplift homegrown start-ups and companies to develop and commercialize their innovative ideas.
“With the recently announced KL20 Action Paper aiming to further encourage start-up growth, we look forward to working with the government and relevant stakeholders to establish a larger collaborative ecosystem to help our Malaysian innovators expand regionally and globally.”
Kamarul also quoted Minister of Digital Gobind Singh Deo, who highlighted that 23% of Malaysia’s economy is driven by digital initiatives. He emphasized the significant role start-ups and the tech sector will play in the MADANI Economy Framework, which was announced in 2023 with RM1 billion allocated to support local start-ups.
Recently, Cyberview collaborated with HFU Capital for the Hunt for Unicorns International Venture Capital and Investment Forum – Cyberjaya Edition, with Cradle Fund Sdn Bhd as the ecosystem partner.
This event saw Malaysian and Chinese companies pitching for funding from venture capitalists, angel investors, and private equity firms from across Asia. Cyberjaya companies Tigasfera Sdn Bhd and Alphaswift Industries Sdn Bhd were among the top five startups, each receiving investments valued at RM40,000. Both companies are part of the Cyberview Living Lab initiative.
“We look forward to more events like these, as such collaborations are essential to closing the loop on efforts to create a thriving start-up and VC ecosystem in Cyberjaya,” added Kamarul.
The Cyberview Living Lab Accelerator, hosted annually with ecosystem partners like Cradle Fund Sdn Bhd, Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), Malaysia Debt Ventures Bhd (MDV), the Malaysian Technology Development Corporation (MTDC), 25 Startups, Leave A Nest, ATA Plus, PitchIN, 1337 Ventures, Nexea, and the Malaysian Research Accelerator for Technology and Innovation (MRANTI), has since its inception in 2013 helped start-ups raise over RM252 million in total investments and generate more than RM775 million in cumulative revenue, creating over 1,400 jobs.
Start-ups participating in the CLLA enjoy incentives worth over RM100,000 per start-up, including rent-free workspace at Colnnov8, business advisory services, and mentoring sessions to develop viable business models and expand market reach.
With the conclusion of Cohort 18, Cyberview is now seeking start-ups with innovative products and solutions in Smart Mobility, Smart Healthcare, and Digital Creative for the next cohort. Interested start-ups can apply at www.cyberview.com.my.
