Scania Malaysia today launched its newly upgraded Port Klang branch. Situated near North Port, the branch caters to customers of Scania heavy vehicles that transport goods to and from the strategic port.

Officiated by Minister of Transport YB Anthony Loke Siew Fook, the RM3.8 million upgrade covers an area of 1,343 square metres and features 10 new work bays, a washing bay and an overhead crane. It also includes a customer reception area, cafeteria, and showers for drivers to relax and refresh themselves.

Service at Scania Port Klang is carried out by 22 skilled technicians, who can work on up to 30 vehicles per day with the facility upgrades. Like all Scania employees, these technicians continuously receive formal training and undergo on the job learning to enhance their skills and knowledge.

“It is important that Scania has a strategic presence in Port Klang where there is a lot of activity in the haulage business. The opening of the newly upgraded Scania Malaysia Port Klang demonstrates our continuous improvement in providing the best services for all our customers for their profitability in this region and of course, across the country,” said Managing Director of Scania Southeast Asia, Marie Sjödin Enström.

The launch of Scania Port Klang will also help with Scania’s sustainability push in its future business and operations, especially in the area of sustainable transport solutions using energy-efficient, resource-saving products, and alternative fuels. With easier access to service facilities, Scania fleet operators can increase engine efficiency while using less fuel.

Transport Minister, YB Anthony Loke added, “Sustainability, I believe, is no longer just an aspiration for brands and businesses but a necessity and I am happy to see that Scania is doing its part and pushing the boundaries, more so here in Malaysia, to make your business responsible and sustainable.”
