REHDA Institute orchestrated a dynamic Housing Roundtable Discussion, drawing over 100 influential participants from diverse sectors.

The gathering included senior representatives from governmental bodies, universities, and key players in the housing sector.

Notable attendees encompassed figures from Kementerian Pembangunan Kerajaan Tempatan (KPKT), Jabatan Perumahan Negara (JPN), Jabatan Perangkaan Malaysia (DOSM), Valuation and Property Management Department (JPPH), Lembaga Perumahan dan Hartanah Selangor (LPHS), Lembaga Perumahan dan Hartanah Perak (LPHP), Lembaga Perumahan Negeri Pulau Pinang (LPNPP), various Local Councils, Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM), and major local and international banks.

Dato Jeffrey Ng Tiong Lip, chairman of REHDA Institute, set the tone with the opening address. The discussion was moderated by Datuk NK Tong, president of REHDA Malaysia, and Sr Malathi Thevendran, director of research and education at REHDA Institute.

The Housing Roundtable delved into crucial topics to ensure research aligns with current realities. Key areas included optimizing affordable measures in response to changing demographics, micro analyses of housing demand based on locality, streamlining and centralising public housing programs by the government, and the importance of access to reliable and up-to-date databases.

REHDA Institute, a research, education, and training organization for the housing industry, was relaunched in 2004 with the backing of former Prime Ministers Tun Mahathir and Tun Abdullah Badawi.

The institute plays a pivotal role in addressing the research and educational needs of the housing and property industry.

In a significant move, REHDA Institute and the University of Malaya inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on December 7, 2023.

The MOU aims to strengthen collaboration in research, academic content, and training for the real estate industry. Dato’ Jeffrey Ng Tiong Lip and Tan Sri Datuk Eddy Chen Lok Loi represented REHDA Institute, while the University of Malaya was represented by Prof Ts Sr Dr Azlan Shah Ali and Prof Sr Dr Faizul Azli Abd Rahim, the Dean and Deputy Dean, Research, Value Creation & Enterprise, Faculty of Built Environment, UM, respectively.
