Pos Malaysia Berhad marked a significant milestone in its retail transformation journey with the launch of its 36th Pos Shop, coinciding with the National Day and Malaysia Day 2024 celebrations. The event was officiated by YB Teo Nie Ching, Deputy Minister of Communications, who lauded Pos Malaysia’s efforts to modernize its retail presence.

Fiona Liao, Pos Malaysia’s Group Chief Marketing, Communications & Sustainability Officer, expressed excitement about the company’s progress. “Today marks a major leap in our mission to revolutionize postal services for the digital age,” she said. “Since launching our first Pos Shop in Jalan Medan Tuanku in May 2023, we’ve seen a 34% increase in foot traffic, proving the success of our innovative retail concept.”

The new Pos Shop Pudu stands out with its unique ‘Shop in Shop’ concept, which flips the traditional model. Instead of a Pos Shop inside a post office, this design integrates a post office inside the shop, offering a more modern and convenient experience for customers. This initiative aligns with Pos Malaysia’s broader goal of creating one-stop solutions for the local community.

Spanning over 900 square feet, Pos Shop Pudu offers more than just postal services. Customers can shop for daily essentials, personal care products, and household items, all within a contemporary retail environment. The popular Pos Kafe inside the shop serves freshly brewed coffee, beverages, and grab-and-go food options, enhancing the overall shopping experience.

In addition to retail services, customers can reload mobile services and make bill payments at the Pos Shop. To celebrate the opening, an exclusive Buy-1-Free-1 promotion on Pos Sundaes is available, while stocks last. As part of the #SapotLokal campaign, a 16% discount on selected made-in-Malaysia products will be offered until 30 September.

Fiona Liao emphasized that the Pos Shop initiative is a key component of Pos Malaysia’s transformation plan. “We are continually innovating and refining our product offerings to meet market demands,” she said. “By optimizing our assets, we are enhancing customer experiences and fostering economic growth through strategic partnerships with local SMEs.”

Pos Malaysia is playing an active role in supporting local businesses by providing them with opportunities to showcase their products. This approach not only boosts economic growth but also creates a win-win situation for Pos Malaysia, local SMEs, and the surrounding community.

At the launch event, Teo praised Pos Malaysia for its efforts in modernizing retail and supporting local industries. “Pos Malaysia is enhancing the customer experience while contributing to community development and economic growth by partnering with local SMEs,” she said.

Looking ahead, Pos Malaysia aims to expand its retail footprint, with plans to open 14 additional Pos Shops across key states by the end of 2024, bringing the total to 50 outlets nationwide. This aggressive expansion underscores the company’s commitment to enhancing accessibility and convenience for communities across Malaysia.

To further strengthen its connection to national heritage, Pos Malaysia will also release a special edition “Hari Malaysia” stamp collection on 16 September, available at all 90 Philatelic Bureaus nationwide. This initiative, along with the retail transformation, highlights Pos Malaysia’s commitment to staying relevant in the digital age while maintaining strong ties to the local community.
