MIMOS Bhd and Huawei Technologies (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd are collaborating to organise a ‘Deeptech and Futureskills’ training programme, set to kickstart on 18 July 2022, which aims to mould and enhance the skilled workforce in various industries.

The main objectives of the training programme, among others, include promoting better opportunities and expanding the local talent pool to accelerate the nation’s shift towards the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR).

Huawei Malaysia will be the official training provider for this ‘Digital Transformation Programme’ training. The ‘Deeptech and Futureskills’ training is one of the strategic initiatives by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) under the ‘Upskilling for Deep Tech and Future Skills’ programme to assist industries to recruit competent local talent that are exposed to the latest industry demands for human capital development.

It aims to provide at least 5,000 job placements by 2022. MIMOS has been appointed as one of the implementation agencies by MOSTI.

Focusing on the 10-10 Malaysian Science, Technology, Innovation and Economy (MySTIE) framework, the programmes available are focused on Artificial Intelligence (AI), Big Data, and 5G Radio Access Network. Participants will be able to experience hands-on training at the Huawei Malaysia Global Training Centre (MGTC) in Cyberjaya, the first of its kind established outside of China.

Those eligible to apply for the programme are individuals in the Science, Technology and Innovation fields who are looking for employment; employees who have lost their jobs; university graduates, and those with no fixed income. The training and certification are fully sponsored by MOSTI.

On 28 April, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was sealed between MIMOS and Huawei Malaysia to collaborate and develop the programme. The signing was witnessed by the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Dato’ Sri Dr Adham Baba. The MoU was aimed at establishing a technology skilled programme to improve digital capabilities and expertise among the local workforce.

Each training session is scheduled to run for five working days, with a certification exam upon completion of training. The classes will be conducted in a hybrid manner, where participants are allowed to attend the classes physically or online.

Huawei’s ‘Digital Transformation Training Programme’ will begin with the Huawei Certified ICT Associate (HCIA) 5G Training from July 18 to July 22, 2022, followed by training in the other fields.
