Amanda Zhang has been appointed as the CEO & President of Mercedes-Benz Cars Malaysia and Head of Region, Mercedes-Benz Cars SEA II, effective from the 1st of August, 2023, by Mercedes-Benz Malaysia.

This appointment signals the advancement of the current CEO, Sagree Sardien, who will assume the role of Head of Region Overseas, Mercedes-Benz Cars in Stuttgart.

Sardien’s tenure was pivotal in driving the brand’s global vision of creating the most desirable cars with sustainability as a guiding principle, both locally and within the SEA II region. Her legacy includes spearheading the electric mobility movement in Malaysia by introducing an array of top-notch luxury EVs from Mercedes-Benz, including the locally assembled Mercedes-Benz EQS 500 4MATIC.

Under Sardien’s leadership, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia underwent digital transformation to enhance customer experiences through the Retail of the Future agency model, while also strengthening the brand’s community engagement through various initiatives.

Sardien said, “We are excited to welcome Amanda Zhang as the leader of Mercedes-Benz Malaysia. Her extensive leadership background and strategic expertise will undoubtedly contribute to propelling our company in the dynamic Malaysian market. I am confident that under her guidance, the company will continue to thrive, upholding its reputation for innovation and excellence.”

Zhang noted, “Assuming this new role in Malaysia and SEA II is a great honor for me. Having been a part of Mercedes-Benz’s remarkable journey in the Central & Eastern Europe Cluster, I am now eager to lead the Mercedes-Benz Malaysia team and collaborate with our retail partners to sustain our pursuit of excellence in this dynamic and vibrant market.

“I firmly believe that success is built on innovation, customer-centricity, and sustainable growth. I am dedicated to fostering a culture that embraces these values at all levels of the organization.”

Prior to this, Zhang served as the CEO at Mercedes-Benz Romania, overseeing four business divisions. During her tenure, she and her team achieved significant growth in both sales and customer services.

Zhang also successfully implemented an electrification strategy in a challenging market landscape and played a crucial role in revitalizing the dealer network in Romania.

Her journey with Mercedes-Benz began over two decades ago through Daimler’s International Management Associate Programme. She has since managed complex international projects, including the notable “Journey to China,” involving the relocation of wholesale operations from Hong Kong to Beijing.

She joined region Europe in 2014, where she established regional product management and marketing teams, as well as multiple regional hubs that laid the groundwork for today’s Experience Center within Region Europe.

Her digital expertise also led to the establishment of Customer Journey Operations, a Salesforce CRM Hub based in Bucharest, supporting European markets in recent years.
