More than 30,000 jobseekers and professionals were in attendance at the Malaysia Career and Training Fair (MCTF) 2023, which took place on 9-10 September, continuing its run as the nation’s largest career fair over the past two decades.

Co-organised by AIC Exhibitions Sdn Bhd and JobStreet Malaysia, the leading jobs platform by SEEK, the two-day event was officiated by the guest of honour Hannah Yeoh, Minister of Youth and Sports Malaysia as a testament to the government’s ongoing commitment to assist the country’s young talent in their pursuit of rewarding careers and opportunities for development.

With over 130 exhibitors and employers from top companies, and more than 10,000 jobs available, MCTF 2023 successfully connected candidates, recruiters and employers through meet-and-greet and networking sessions, as well as on-the-spot interview opportunities.

Speaking at MCTF 2023, Hannah said, “As the government works to reinvigorate and revitalise our economy through policies such as the Ekonomi Madani framework, initiatives like career fairs – which empower our youths to diversify and enhance their skillsets – are a vital part of the picture. Our youths must adopt a culture of lifelong learning, and employers must also create an environment that supports and enables this mindset in their workforce.”

“We are thrilled to once again collaborate with JobStreet Malaysia to build another successful edition of the Malaysia Career and Training Fair 2023. Malaysians of all ages and at varying stages in their career were present this weekend, and we hope they were able to benefit from the networking sessions and opportunities available.

“This event represents not only a fantastic platform for jobseekers and professionals to explore new career avenues but is also a testament to Malaysia’s commitment to fostering a skilled and dynamic workforce,” said Datuk William Ng, the organising chairman of MCTF.

“Despite concerns over economic slowdowns, Malaysia’s labour market remains highly active, as we’ve seen an increasing number of job ads posted on JobStreet, as well as more job applications submitted compared to last year.

“Our research also found nearly 50% of Malaysian jobseekers prefer to meet potential employers and recruiters face-to-face and embark on in-person chats, making this a key part of the recruitment journey.

“As the leading employment platform and career partner in the region, our goal has always been to bridge the gap between jobseekers and employers. We’re proud to partner with AIC Exhibitions to continue driving MCTF’s success, creating avenues that allow for more impactful interactions that can go on to shape careers,” said Vic Sithasanan, managing director, JobStreet Malaysia.

MCTF 2023 also saw the official introduction of seekMAX, the country’s largest in-app learning content platform, designed to empower professionals to upskill and advance their careers. Malaysians can now easily access over 1,100 free edutainment videos in English and Bahasa Malaysia via the JobStreet mobile app.

The platform was launched by Chook Yuh Yng, chief growth officer, careers and connect platform, Asia, SEEK.

“In a recent JobStreet survey, 62% of our users said they’re motivated to keep learning to improve themselves or their current career. This is why we’re excited to launch seekMAX in Malaysia, offering a free and easily accessible platform where they can grow their skills and knowledge.

“The bite-sized content we offer is ideal for the busy Malaysian and we look forward to continuing to provide quality content as a dedicated career partner for Malaysians,” she said.

MCTF 2023 was also supported by its official partners, including the Social Security Organization (PERKESO), HRD Corp PLACEMENT CENTRE (HPC), and mynext by TalentCorp Malaysia.
