Maybank Singapore (Maybank) has introduced the myimpact SME programme, a group-wide initiative to empower SME customers in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Cambodia with values-based solutions that support sustainable growth.

Syed Ahmad Taufik Albar, Group CEO of Community Financial Services at Maybank, said, “As one of the largest financial institutions in the region, Maybank understands the challenges in building a sustainable and successful business.

“We support our SME customers throughout their journey with a comprehensive suite of financial and non-financial solutions. Our commitment to financial inclusivity and sustainable impact is aligned with our long-term goal of Humanising Financial Services.”

The Maybank myimpact SME programme provides SMEs with tailored financial and business advisory solutions, fostering positive economic impacts. Through a collaborative ecosystem of partners, the programme supports SMEs in accelerating their sustainability efforts—timely as Singapore advances towards its Green Plan 2030 roadmap for a sustainable future.

To facilitate SMEs in sustainability reporting, Maybank will offer funding for Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) data collection, including emissions reporting, green and sustainability-linked financing, climate risk management, and sustainable supply chain reporting. This will aid SMEs in risk management and their transition to net-zero.

Alvin Lee, Maybank Singapore Country CEO, said, “At Maybank, we aim to drive impactful change to support our clients’ growth. Many SMEs lack resources and expertise in embedding sustainability within their operations.

“As vital contributors to Singapore’s economy, they play a key role in environmental sustainability. myimpact SME will be instrumental in driving sustainable growth and innovation by offering tailored insights and guidance.

“By supporting SMEs on their decarbonisation journey, they can build resilience and remain competitive in an eco-conscious market. We are pleased to collaborate with partners who share our commitment to sustainability.”

Benjamin Soh, Founder and Managing Director at ESGpedia, added, “As large corporates prioritise sustainable procurement, it is crucial for SMEs to embrace sustainability to remain competitive.

“We are thrilled to partner with Maybank on the myimpact SME ecosystem. Through ESGpedia’s online tool, SMEs can calculate their carbon emissions and report key ESG metrics, aligned with SGX requirements and international frameworks, enhancing their eligibility for sustainable financing and business opportunities.”

As part of myimpact SME, Maybank is also extending support to female entrepreneurs via the HERpower programme, which provides access to tailored financing, networking events, and workshops.

Participants benefit from fee waivers, including processing fees of up to S$2,000 for loans, waiver of terminal setup fees for Electronic Data Capture (EDC) terminals, and monthly payroll charge waivers of up to S$100.

Alvin Lee added, “We are excited to support female entrepreneurs through the HERpower programme. By providing learning and networking opportunities, digital tools for growth, and guidance on sustainability practices, we aim to help women entrepreneurs future-proof their businesses.”

Among the women entrepreneurs supported by Maybank is Chen Xiaoxuan, main shareholder of Supreme Cars Financial Services Pte. Ltd. She shared, “Maybank’s trustworthiness, customer service, and favourable terms made them my preferred banking partner.

“They supported me beyond loans, helping me grow my business and navigate challenges. Their initiatives, including networking sessions and financial literacy workshops, have been invaluable. I am confident the HERpower programme will empower more women entrepreneurs in Singapore to achieve their business aspirations.”

To qualify for HERpower loans, women entrepreneurs must own over 50% of their business. With no cap on the loan amount, entrepreneurs have flexibility in raising capital. Maybank also offers business mentorship and advisory services, including cross-border support across ASEAN.
