Mastercard and partners, Google, Alliance Bank, and Maxis, in collaboration with Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI), SME Corp and Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) announced the launch of Go Global Malaysia, a training and education programme for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). The initiative is designed to equip SMEs with the skills and tools to maximize their business potential, help them to capitalize on opportunities for growth and raise their competencies to become global players in their respective industries by encouraging them to go digital.

Perry Ong, country manager, Malaysia and Brunei, Mastercard shared, “With the rise of the digital economy coupled with the fast-paced, competitive business environment, the adoption and use of technology has become a key enabler of progress for SMEs. Electronic payments are an integral piece of the puzzle as the usage of payment solutions and platforms enables SMEs to achieve greater efficiency, meet evolving business demands and ultimately support business growth and scale. Mastercard is proud to be working alongside the government and other partners to help empower SMEs to realize their business potential, in line with our commitment to collaboration and knowledge-sharing in enabling SMEs to go digital, bringing Malaysia one step closer to a cashless society.”

Mastercard, together with Alliance Bank, will host workshops focused on educating and training 1000 SMEs on the benefits of digital payment platforms which include making and collecting payments safely, swiftly and smartly, as part of Go Global Malaysia. Led by commercial payments experts, the initiative is an extension of Mastercard’s continued support of SMEs which include growing the commercial payments proposition and increasing its uptake among the business community in Malaysia.
