At the ongoing Hannover Industrial Fair in Germany, a group of 13 Malaysian companies are making strong pitches, showcasing their products in two separate groups.

Ten of the companies exhibiting their offerings are under the Malaysia External Trade Development Corp (Matrade) and the rest are with the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM).

The industrial show from 8-12 April is a global attraction, with Russia being introduced as a “partner country.” Many Asian suppliers are describing the event as a “one-stop sourcing point.”

Speaking at the fair, Nah Ren Howe, managing director of Penang-based Rehon Industries Sdn Bhd says, “About 10 per cent of our exports are destined for Germany, the United States and Japan. We are keen on expanding our market.” Rehon Industries offers precision metal stamping services and is trying to gain a foothold in the global export market.

Mahesh Sambamoorthy, business director of Controller Area Network Solutions (M) Sdn Bhd which is based in Puchong, Selangor, says this is the first time his company is an exhibitor in Hannover. Controller Area Network Solutions provides services in the field of industrial controls and automation to a range of industrial plants.

Mahesh says, “Hannover offers us a good platform to present our products to a discerning international clientele. We have thus far received some good business enquiries from Sweden and India.”

Another exhibitor at the fair, Jecmetal Industries Sdn Bhd of Muar, is a company that supplies a broad range of machinery parts to a variety of industries, including oil and gas and aerospace. General Manager Dr Sam Lee said that the company has received qualitatively good business enquiries, despite the number of contacts at the show being smaller. He added that a few European business people had visited the stand.

Sales and Marketing Director of Penang-based UIS Technologies Sdn Bhd, Pang Boon Tag, said he was highly impressed by the level of knowledge the buyers had garnered prior to arriving at the stand of an exhibitor. UIS Technologies started out as a trading company some 11 years ago, but now manufactures semi-conductors and machine components, amongst other things.
