KUALA LUMPUR, 29 June 2021 – Armed with confidence that it can help companies in the United Kingdom (UK) with high levels of global connectedness to other top ecosystems, Toshi Sdn Bhd is opening its first overseas office in the European region.

Toshi Sdn Bhd is no stranger to the industry as it is positioned as one of Malaysia’s leading distributor and solution provider in the field of IP-Telephony (VoIP), Video Conferencing and Digital Signage.

“We are excited to announce the official opening of our UK office. It is a major step for the company to open an office in a new country and we are optimistic about the new opportunities the UK will bring in,” said Ali Ahanchian, Co-Founder and Sales Director of Toshi Sdn Bhd.

Citing the estimated 6.7% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of the UK digital signage market to reach £1 billion in 2025 from £634.87 million in 2018, Ali said the major driving factors were the rapid adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI), machine learning and the extensive use of IP-based devices.

In addition, the IT and telecommunications segment dominated the overall unified communications market in 2019 – a trend that is projected to continue to 2024.

“Toshi’s vast set of industry experiences and the potential in the UK market are attractive enough elements for us to establish our growth within the region’s digital sector. Further, our UK office can benefit from high-levels of global connectedness to other top ecosystems and tap into global markets due to UK’s favourable time zone,” he added.

Toshi’s UK outfit will focus on Digital Communication Solutions in line with its strategy for the overseas market to export the knowledge, experience and expertise that the company has developed in its 15-years of experience.

Malaysian operations will continue playing a central role as Toshi’s global support centre. Seeing its integral role, the company expects to see an expansion to its Malaysian development team coupled with the firm’s continued commitment to product development, and research and development.

“Having a sales office in the UK allows us to promote our products and services into these regions and as a result, we are expecting to observe the growth of overall business revenue,” Ali said, not discounting interest to expand into New Zealand and Australia in the near future.

In the UK, Toshi expects to tap into the Digital Signage market leveraging on its in-house developed product – MySign – a web-based digital signage content management which is offered as Cloud Service. Applicable to Windows, Android, LG WebOS and Samsung Tizen screens, and at a competitive price, MySign allows a customer to design a screen layout, upload content and publish to the screen once the layout designs are decided upon.

The COVID-19 pandemic, Ali said, paved the way for business owners to realise that Digital Communication – especially IP-Telephone – is the future of communication. The system allowed for staff who were working from home to assist customers over the telephone without interruption.

“We had expected to expand into the UK in 2020 but the pandemic disrupted plans. However, since the UK is one of the pioneering countries in vaccination and is returning to normalcy, we decided to proceed. It is expected that UK businesses will be back to normal in June or July,” he added.

Toshi’s office will be located on the 3rd floor, Digital World Centre, The Quays, Salford, Manchester M50 3UB, United Kingdom. Its operating hours are from 9am to 5.30pm, Mondays to Fridays. Customers will be able to contact Toshi at +44 (0) 161 3941 300 or email uk@toshi.com.my
