The large-scale charity event LOHAS Taiwan Excellence 2022: Jump for Love organised by Taiwan Excellence received an overwhelming response from Malaysian rope jumping enthusiasts, receiving more than 5,000 registered and over 3,000 videos for the competition.

80 participants have successfully made it into the finals, and they include men, women and children of all ages. Contestants will be jumping it out in the singles rope jump category and the singles freestyle category as they vie for three top prizes on the 25th of June.

LOHAS Taiwan Excellence 2022: Jump for Love is sponsored by Taiwan’s Bureau of Foreign Trade and Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) with support from the Malaysian Jump Rope Federation, Jump Rope Malaysia, the GB Rope Skipping Academy.

Taiwan Excellence – the globally recognised mark of quality that represents the best of Taiwanese products – held the online preliminaries selection on the 16th of May 2022 and received overwhelming support from all over Malaysia. Total 5,478 registered and 3,773 uploaded videos of one minute of jumping were received during the 24-day preliminary submission period and participants range from 6 to 70 years old. The finalists were announced on June 16 late at night on the Taiwan Excellence official fan page (https://www.facebook.com/TaiwanExcellence.MY).

“Have you jumped?” became the standard greeting for many Malaysian jump rope enthusiasts during the preliminary competition period. Many exciting rope jumping videos were shared across Facebook and Instagram communities. The videos range from amazing freestyle jumps by experts to a toddler’s attempt at making their first successful jump.

Although a minute seem like a short time, many had to give up midway. There are elderly participants who failed to meet the requirement of landing on both feet at the same time but continue to skip merrily with smiles plastered on their faces as they know that they are jumping for a good cause.

Teachers in a primary school in Ranau (East Malaysia) even signed up more than 10 students for the competition and they had to row across the river to reach the school where they shot the video. An amusing video about a sulking Kelantanese primary school student, Muhammad Nor Syabil, who had to miss the competition because he hurt his leg playing football also made the rounds online.

Every skip throughout the event is converted into a love point that will go towards helping less fortunate children, and the enthusiastic response of thousands of participants easily exceeded the 800,000-point target. Taiwan Excellence will be donating products worth RM50,000 to the Suriana Welfare Society, including KARMA wheelchairs, AROMASE shampoo, TATUNG electric cookers, SIMBA feeding bottles, rice, oil and biscuits.

To spice up the event, the organiser has also come up with some fun and challenging surfaces including fans, grass turf, and even reflexology boards open to the public to challenge themselves and win attractive prizes.

During the preliminaries, the organiser also drew 300 lucky winners to take part in the live physical event to be held in Sunway Velocity Mall from 24th to 27th June. The lucky winners will receive attractive products from Bio-Jourdeness, Dacian Technology Material, and Natural Beauty worth a total of RM 50,000. The grand prize – Johnson Fitness Horizon Comfort 5 Upright Bike – will be revealed during the opening ceremony.

15 skippers attempt entry for the Malaysia Book of Records

Visitors to the event will also be able to learn about products from 13 award-winning Taiwanese brands including hair and beauty care products, as well as health and leisure products.
