Talend, the global leader in cloud and big data integration software, today announced that Lenovo chose Talend Data Fabric to streamline product and inventory data from suppliers, vendors, and manufacturing as well as repositories, warehouse, and e-commerce functions. Using Talend, Lenovo’s global Product Catalog Centre is now able to deliver a unified view of inventory to a global network of employees, partners, and major account customers.

Over the years, Lenovo amassed an inventory of more than five million unique product IDs or items, but information on those products was distributed over disparate databases and a variety of enterprise resources and inventory management systems. With Talend, Lenovo was able to connect and unify data and validate data quality. This ensures accurate cataloging and means the information can be acted upon with confidence.

“We needed an easy-to-use and agile solution that could connect data in real-time from a variety of sources and then efficiently transfer that data to our global inventory management and procurement center,” said Robin Li, IT senior manager, Lenovo. “Talend’s open source architecture gave us great flexibility and stood out for its speed and effectiveness in handling massive volumes data.”

By streamlining product and inventory data from various sources, Lenovo employees, partners, and customers can now identify the availability of products and advise customers on product delivery, repairs and replacement schedules in real time.

“We are delighted to be supporting such an innovative company and helping them gain an actionable view of their data,” said Kamal Brar, senior vice president, Asia Pacific and Japan, Talend. “As Lenovo proves, using a modern data architecture not only drives business efficiencies, but also creates a superior customer experience.”
