For the hot weather of Malaysia, the various flavours of ice cream are much welcomed desserts, especially with a rich and creamy texture like the ones available at LalaPop, the first alcohol-infused ice cream boutique under the Frozen umbrella.

The outlet was open for business on 24 June and is the fourth Frozen outlet. Its other outlets are located in Jalan Telawi, Bangsar, The LINC KL and Paradigm Mall, Petaling Jaya.

Playfully termed as the ‘notti’ cousin of Frozen, the LalaPop outlet is located at LaLaport, Bukit Bintang City Centre, Kuala Lumpur. It offers delicious ice cream infused with liquor, from Sake and VS Brandy to Tequila and Whisky.

Adding alcohol to ice cream enhances both flavour and texture. Alcohol lowers the freezing point, so ice creams stay creamier and smoother because they do not freeze as solid and are less likely to form ice crystals.

However, it must be noted that too much alcohol can prevent ice cream from freezing at all. A rule of thumb is to add one and a half tablespoons of 80-proof alcohol for every quart of ice cream base. Some pastry chefs mix in small amounts of alcohol to add nuances to other flavours while others pour with a freer hand.

Established by Datuk William Ng, Frozen is a popular artisanal ice creamery, specialising in ice cream creations jointly created with MasterChef Australia’s Christy Tania and has been named by local and international media as the best ice cream boutique in the country.

Unlike mass-produced ice creams served elsewhere, Frozen creations are 100% locally-made in small batches – using premium, all-natural ingredients to deliver a taste to fall in love with.

“Each scoop of Frozen ice cream and each piece of our creations are lovingly hand-finished – hence each scoop is different, but all united by our love for our craft. That smooth taste and a burst of flavour that characterises every spoonful of Frozen ice cream are not by accident. It takes years of patience and a disciplined approach,” said Ng

LalaPop is unveiling the Matcha and Sake ice cream for Malaysian ice cream fans. It is a bitter-sweet Japanese Matcha ice cream infused with premium-grade sake from Hyogo, Japan, available exclusively to LalaPop @LaLaport.

Besides alcohol-infused ice cream, LalaPop also offers the range of Frozen’s popular ice creams such as Musang King ice cream, Avocado ice cream, Cempedak as well as the Dragon fruit sorbet, and ice cream cakes.

For the grand opening period, the premium Matcha ice cream is available at only RM15.90 per scoop at the LalaPop outlet. Customers will also get a RM10 voucher with any purchase, from 23 June to 31 July 2022. Only at LalaPop by Frozen@LaLaport BBBC – Lot G70, Gourmet Street.
