Singapore must continue to welcome high-quality investments as the country spearheads its economy, said Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.
Updating his Facebook page after dining with the Rolls-Royce Board in Singapore, he said high-quality investments; citing Rolls-Royce, have created skilled and well-paying jobs for Singaporeans.
Lee noted that the country’s cooperation with automobile company Rolls-Royce dates back to the 1950s.
Since then, Rolls-Royce has continued to increase its investments in Singapore.
In 2012, Lee launched the Rolls-Royce Seletar Campus. The campus manufactures the latest Trent engines used on the Airbus A380 aircraft and the complex wide-chord fan blades that are attached in the engines. Lee noted that Singapore is the only place outside the UK to do so.
The campus project has spawned a multitude of good jobs for Singaporeans who constitute most of the workforce, and has also helped the country become a global aerospace hub.
It is in Lee’s hopes that Singapore’s partnership with Rolls-Royce continue for many more years to come.
