GX Bank Berhad (GX Bank) has officially opened its digital banking app to millions of Malaysians, marking a significant milestone in the bank’s journey to become Malaysia’s first digital bank.
The launch event, attended by Datuk Johan Mahmood Merican and witnessed by Datuk Zaiton Mohd Hassan and GX Bank CEO Pei Si Lai, celebrated the collaboration of various stakeholders, including shareholders, business partners, beta testers, and employees.
Pei shared insights into the app’s testing phase, revealing that almost 50% of beta testers have embraced the app’s savings goal feature, known as “Pockets.” The top three reasons customers are saving for include emergencies, holidays, and investments. Following successful testing phases, GX Bank is now expanding its services to the entire country.
The launch aligns with the findings of the RinggitPlus Malaysian Financial Literacy Survey 2023, indicating Malaysians’ desire to save more, especially as their current savings may only last up to three months.
Zaiton meanwhile expressed gratitude to Bank Negara Malaysia for their support in the bank’s journey to becoming Malaysia’s digital bank. She highlighted the bank’s commitment to making banking seamless, convenient, and accessible to all Malaysians.
Looking ahead, GXBank plans to roll out additional features, including the highly anticipated GX Card. Pei expressed excitement about the GX Card, emphasizing its significance as the only physical manifestation of GXBank.
The card, a partnership with Mastercard, offers various rewards, including unlimited 1% cashback, zero markups on foreign transactions, and exclusive benefits at MEPS ATMs and Jaya Grocer.
Licensed by Bank Negara Malaysia, GXBank assures customers that all deposits are protected by Perbadanan Insurans Deposit Malaysia (PIDM) up to RM250,000 per depositor. The GX Card, along with the digital banking app, aims to provide Malaysians with a seamless and rewarding banking experience.
