Fortinet, a provider of automated cybersecurity solutions, announced the increased investment and expansion of its presence in Malaysia to better serve the public sector, telecommunications, financial services, as well as enterprise and commercial markets.
The firm said in a statement that it is steadily building its channel ecosystem with a renewed focus on building and expanding partnerships to capture new markets.
Fortinet deems its partners are integral to its larger growth strategies – acting as the extended arms to scaling outreach in the deployment of Fortinet technologies and solutions to help businesses and organisations secure networks, users, and data from the continually evolving cyber threats.
Speaking at its new office opening, country manager of Fortinet Malaysia, Dickson Woo, said the pace of digital transformation for organisations in Malaysia and the region demands proportional or even greater developments in security.
Cyber threats are always evolving in sophistication and frequency. “In addition to a focus on innovation, Fortinet believes that only by growing and reskilling our talent pool can we go beyond meeting the expectations of our customers, and also enable the support of new customers from critical industries leveraging technology to grow,” he said.
Therefore, Fortinet Malaysia will continue to invest in talent recruitment across all core functions including sales and marketing, info-security analysts, application security engineers, and compliance managers to support the growing systems engineering and technical assistance teams.
The new office will also house Fortinet’s Customer Briefing Centre (CBC) which will showcase the latest suite of solutions and technology in the next-generation cyber security applications, including service, pre-sales and application supports.
Supporting Malaysia’s Cybersecurity Strategy
According to the Malaysia Cyber Security Strategy 2020-2024 plan by the National Cyber Security Agency (NACSA), a key pillar of focus is the enhancement of the national cybersecurity by continuously improving skill-sets and expertise to address the dearth of cyber talent.
To this end, Fortinet has pledged to train one million people globally over the next five years to close the cybersecurity skills gap and has also committed resources to local educational institutions such as Multimedia University to build Malaysia’s pool of cyber talents.
Fortinet will soon be moving its operations from Menara Keck Seng to two stories of office space at Equatorial Plaza, Kuala Lumpur.
