ShopeePay is giving an additional benefit in the form of RM500 worth of vouchers to successful ePemula claimants through its platform in addition to the RM150 e-wallet credit, bringing the total benefit to RM650.
The ePemula programme is open for registration to Malaysians aged 18 to 20 years old, or full-time students enrolled in courses equivalent to a diploma or the Malaysian Skills Certificate Level 4 (SKM4) and above at local public and private registered institutions of higher learning.
The extra RM500 Shopee vouchers comprise RM90 ShopeePay vouchers, RM310 ShopeeFood vouchers, RM50 Shopee Mall vouchers and RM50 YES Voucher for SIM and Data.
Shopee said in a statement that the package is specially curated to offer youths greater savings on items such as learning tools for their studies, or household supplies and essential needs.
The RM150 credits can be used for in-store offline transactions across various merchant partners nationwide whereas the extra RM500 vouchers can be utilised for both in-store offline and online transactions.
“With a variety of popular brands accepting ShopeePay as a payment option, youths can expect savings when shopping during Ramadan and the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri festival. Brands include a range of fashion names like JD Sports, Focus Point, Giordano, Elle, Common Sense and also F&B outlets such as Taco Bell, KFC, Kyochon, myBurgerLab, CU Malaysia and many more,” the statement said.
For online shopping, successful claimants will also be able to use Shopee Mall and ShopeePay vouchers for even more value. Some of the Shopee Mall brands include Sony, Watsons, Oppo, JBL, Skechers, Lotus’s, Tefal Home, Edifier. For the ShopeePay vouchers, participating brands include Tealive, A&W, MR.DIY, MYNEWS, OldTown White Coffee and ZUS Coffee.
Alain Yee, head of ShopeePay Malaysia said, “We are honoured to collaborate with the Ministry of Finance again after a very positive response from Malaysian youths last year.
“As a company that puts consumers first, we are constantly innovating to serve our users. Through ePemula, we are happy to be given a chance to encourage more Malaysian youths to embrace going cashless and use ShopeePay to experience the convenience and security and rewards that our mobile wallet has to offer.
“We also believe that the programme will play a bigger role to simultaneously generate economic activity and sales for local merchants and traders.”
As more Malaysian consumers enter the cashless ecosystem, smaller businesses like convenience stores, local cafes and micro-traders will also see the need to adopt cashless payment methods as part of their operations to ensure that they are not left behind. This digital push will be a win for the country’s digital economy, he added.
In addition to the rewards, ShopeePay ePemula claimants can also participate in the #ShopeeEPEMULAsquad Challenge and stand a chance to win prizes worth up to RM25,000 by following @ShopeePay_MY on Instagram & @ShopeeMY on TikTok.
They just need to snap a group picture on IG or post their moves on TikTok with their squad to be in the running for the prizes.
