DHL Express, has announces plans to invest approximately EUR4 million (RM28 million) in Malaysia in 2013, to upgrade its facilities. This announcement comes as DHL Express Malaysia commemorates 40th years of service excellence and market leadership in the country.
A market leader and pioneer in the Malaysian international express service industry, DHL Express Malaysia has a strong team comprising over 800 International Specialists, servicing over 13,000 customers in the country. From local Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to large multinational companies across a myriad of industries, the success DHL Express Malaysia has achieved today is underpinned by three bottom lines – the Provider of Choice to customers, the Employer of Choice to staff and Investment of Choice to investors.
Yasmin Aladad Khan, Senior Vice President, DHL Express Southeast Asia commented, “DHL Express has played an integral role in establishing the international express industry in Southeast Asia. In addition to Malaysia, DHL Express in Thailand and Indonesia will be celebrating their 40th anniversary this year. 2013 serves as a great reminder of the considerable achievements in the past four decades. The team in Malaysia has and will continue to deliver excellent services to our customers.”
“Malaysia is a key market in the Southeast Asia region, with the nation expected to achieve a steady 5 – 6 percent growth in 2013. The logistics industry, which usually acts as the barometer of the economy’s well being, is expected to see strong growth of up to 9.5 percent this year alone. We are likewise very optimistic of the business opportunities present in Malaysia and grateful for the support that we have gotten from our customers in the past 40 years. As International Specialists, we proactively invest in the country to ensure that we have the right infrastructure and people to sustain our future growth while allowing us to further enhance customer intimacy,” commented David Ng, Managing Director, DHL Express Malaysia and Brunei.
“In March, we introduced a new A300 freighter service in Penang, providing an additional 30 percent cargo capacity to complement the state’s vibrant trade activities. This network enhancement will provide us with the flexibility and scalability in reaction to changing market demands. As a global logistics leader, we always need to plan ahead, build on our capabilities and make the necessary adjustments that will allow us to move forward as well as provide specialized services to our customers in key growth sectors – oil & gas, electronics, aerospace, healthcare and local SMEs,” added David.
Reinforcing its commitment to the Malaysia market, DHL will embark on expansion plans to further extend its network throughout the country. This includes 8 new retail outlets strategically located across the country, bringing DHL Express’ total retail footprint to 38 outlets by end of 2013. Plans are also underway to expand and upgrade its facilities in Malaysia to cope with the increasing demand for reliable and speedy international express services.
In conjunction with its 40th anniversary in Malaysia, several promotional campaigns such as the Lucky 40 Promotion will see DHL offering every 40th walk-in retail customer a 40 percent discount on their international shipments, throughout the year. This is DHL’s way of thanking the customers for their support and to share the joy of the 40th anniversary celebration.
