Colony, the Malaysian luxury coworking space and serviced office provider, celebrated the opening of its fifth and flagship centre, Colony@Star Boulevard KLCC at Jalan Yap Kwan Seng on Friday, 23 August 2019.

Spanning 2 levels, Colony @ Star Boulevard KLCC is a creative collaboration of a modern urban loft and eclectic bohemian design seen through the eyes of luxury interior designers, London-based 1.61 London and Malaysian counterparts Hoe & Yin Design Studio. Utilising an industrial loft aesthetic, the space was given warm touches by the architects as well as Audrey Ooi, Co-Founder and Executive Director of Colony.

Like other Colony spaces, Colony@Star Boulevard also offers a diverse selection of workspace plans and services, ranging from hot desking areas, reserved desks, private offices that are available in various sizes to accommodate teams of all sizes. Virtual offices and time-based passes are also available for guests who prefers higher flexibility.

The 35,000 sq ft space, which features a ballroom/event space and a lush rooftop garden also underscores the growing importance of coworking spaces as event spaces. Timothy Tiah, Founder and Executive Director of Colony, said that more and more brands are using coworking spaces to host events in lieu of hotel ballrooms. In the second quarter of 2019, revenue from events made up close to 25 per cent of their total revenue. While spaces struggle to bring in paid-events, Colony has managed to find a niche in it, hosting large scale events with the likes of Google, Microsoft, Estee Lauder and Sony, to name a few.

Colony@Star Boulevard KLCC has also introduced an in-house dining experience with award-winning celebrity chef Malcolm Goh and restaurateur Ryan Yeoh’s second Define Food outlet housed within the coworking space. With 15 years of experience, Goh started his career honing his skills at top hotel restaurants such as Ritz-Carlton Kuala Lumpur and Le Meridien Kuala Lumpur. Define Food is also open to the public for a dining experience in the heart of KLCC.

In committing US$1.5 million to their flagship space, Colony has also committed to the luxury and comfort of its tenants, while continuing the uphold the high standards of existing Colony spaces. The company is backed by Oak Drive Ventures, Cornerstone Partner’s Group and family offices around the region. Colony’s goal in the near future is to secure a US$10 million series A round, used to develop new solutions for enterprises while they weigh out invitations from partners to bring the Colony experience to new locations both domestically and abroad.
