Proficient, a construction project management platform, has signed a long-term partnership with Boustead Holdings Bhd (Boustead) to drive technological transformation through digitally powered construction management processes at the latter’s projects across Malaysia.
In addition, Boustead, through its subsidiary, Boustead Digital Services Sdn Bhd (Boustead Digital), has acquired a 10 percent stake in Proficient and will be looking to inject a monetary investment to bolster Proficient’s expansion into local and regional markets, while accelerating more innovative functions and AI capabilities on the platform.
With Malaysia’s construction industry set to recover and further expand after the pandemic, there is a need for construction companies to digitally adapt to the current times to enhance the main aspects of risk management and efficiency.
The digital adoption is also expected to increase productivity and profitability of construction companies.
By integrating the entire life cycle of construction project management workflow, the software is accessible as a mobile application and web dashboard that allow developers to digitally manage communications, documents and all aspects of field operations including timeline, progress and requirements.
“As a pioneer in Malaysia’s construction management scene, we understand the rising significance of technology in making the operational processes of developers and corporations more efficient. Using our expertise in end-to-end digital construction management, we aim to empower Boustead with the best innovations that call for the seamless transition from manual processes such as paperwork, logistics and inventory, to a fully automated and highly-efficient procedure,” said Jitin Girdhar, CEO of Proficient.
Boustead Group managing director Dato’ Sri Mohammed Shazalli Ramly noted, “We are always in the pursuit of innovation and excellence which is in line with our Reinventing Boustead strategy. We believe the venture with Proficient will lead to huge opportunities that encourage enterprises to increase their efficiency through the digitalisation of project management processes which will enhance governance and transparency, reflecting ESG (Environment, Social and Governance) values. This will assist in controlling and reducing potential occurrence of mismanagement, corruption or ill-practices due to the removal of human control and bureaucratic points that are irrelevant.
“For Boustead, the software’s cutting-edge technology will be advantageous to our property arm, and at the same time, we are also collaborating with Proficient in exploring ways to develop new modules that can be applied to Boustead’s heavy industry division.”
Boustead Digital CEO Nurul Azilah Ahmad Kamil said, “We are confident of Proficient’s scalability beyond just digitalising project management in the construction industry. This venture will also introduce a new age of ‘digitisation of governance’, which we believe can add superior value to our businesses through improved transparency and minimal human intervention that will ultimately lead to cost reductions as cost overruns and project delays are mitigated. We hope to drive the evolution of modern governance that is powered by digital tools to drive sustainable performance and inspire stakeholders’ confidence”.
“While the pandemic has hampered the property and construction industries over the past year, the industry will witness a brighter outlook as vaccination rates continue to accelerate. Nevertheless, we have observed the benefits of a digital construction management process even during the pandemic. Therefore, we are prepared to assist companies in their growth trajectories by offering our software’s robust capabilities,” Jitin added.
Proficient’s base software was launched during the outset of the Covid-19 pandemic in April 2020 as the company’s commitment to push for a technologically driven construction project management scene in Malaysia.
The platform has collaborated with some of the biggest Malaysian corporations including Hap Seng Land and Naza TTDI. Proficient has also received The Most Promising Startup 2021 in Top in Tech Innovation Awards, endorsed by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation Malaysia.
