A first of its kind training facility has been launched to produce more workforce equipped with skills needed for the fourth industrial revolution.
Industry 4.0 is the current trend of automation and data exchange in manufacturing technologies.
Employees who undergo training at the centre, Talent Development (M) Sdn Bhd, will be graduating with a Siemens Mechatronic Systems Certification Programme (SMSCP) certification and Siemens lndustry Training (SlTRAlN) that help upskill, reskill and multiskill the Malaysian workforce.
Human Resources Minister Datuk Richard Riot said Talent Development and Siemens would ensure that participants are equipped with an internationally-recognised certification of mechatronics, an industry comprising electronic, mechanical and IT-related systems and processes.
“Talent Development is Siemens’ first private authorised education partner in Malaysia and Asean to offer SMSCP Level 1. The highly-acclaimed SMSCP certification is awarded by Siemens Technical Academy in Berlin, Germany.
“This globally and industry-recognised certification meets requirements and criteria for Malaysians to be fully qualified to manage any mechatronic systems,” Riot added.
He said while the accredition would be internationally-recognised, he urged local talents to work in Malaysia to contribute to the country.
Riot said the training centre would contribute to Malaysia’s aim of producing sufficient skilled workers by 2020 as the nation strives to achieve the high-income nation status by then.
“In 2015, we only had 28 per cent skilled workers in Malaysia. But in the last two years, we managed to raise it to 31 per cent.
“The government aims to increase it to 35 per cent of the workforce by 2020 in order to be a developed nation,” he said during a press conference yesterday.
Talent Development chief operation officer Prasanna Sailanathan said its goal was to create an understanding that was constructional with models that can be used for problem solving.
”Participants are trained to think creatively, construct webs of information, and to construct models metaphorically. We are committed to coaching participants to gather information through hands-on learning as this would allow participants to engage with in-depth investigations. We are able to customise training programmes according to organisation needs.
”We absolutely understand the crucial need for qualification and relevant skills required for the ever evolving era of technology that we live in today. Therefore, upskilling and reskiliing is a necessity,” she added.
