Boeing and the suppliers for the company’s Super Hornet jet fighter are working with Malaysia’s leaders to create education and training programs that will benefit the country’s aerospace industry.
Boeing is launching the Human Capital Development (HCD) Initiative to help support Malaysia’s growing aerospace maintenance, manufacturing and design industry. Super Hornet suppliers GE Aviation, Northrop Grumman, Honeywell, Raytheon and GKN Aerospace are also involved in the effort.
“Our goal is to create programs that will prepare Malaysia’s citizens for careers in aerospace as the country attracts more of these high-value jobs,” said Jim Armington, East Asia & Pacific Business Development vice president, Boeing Defense, Space & Security. “It’s a long-term commitment that complements the country’s existing aerospace development programs.”
Malaysia’s leaders have said that education and training programs are essential for the country to take advantage of the enormous air traffic demand projected for the Asia Pacific region. Boeing’s capabilities in both commercial and military aerospace make it uniquely positioned to help Malaysia in this effort; it is the only company in Malaysia’s Multi-Role Combat Aircraft competition with this dual expertise. The company has offered the Super Hornet for consideration in the competition.
