Behind every online purchase is a story of determination, resilience, and dreams realised. For many Malaysian entrepreneurs, platforms like Shopee have become key drivers of transformation, turning humble beginnings into national success stories.
With its strong logistics network and seamless nationwide connectivity, Shopee empowers local sellers to expand their businesses beyond traditional boundaries while providing buyers with convenience, trust, and satisfaction.
Entrepreneurs such as Muhammad Afiq bin Mohamad Arshad and Faizah Milin of A&F Berkat Borneo, Sarini Zainal Abidin of The Pastels Shop, and Suriana Ali Endut of Kimchi Suren Suria, are reaching new heights. Their stories underscore how Shopee is connecting them with customers across Malaysia, fostering community growth, and bringing joy with every package delivered.
“Our mission is to support the dreams of sellers and meet the needs of buyers. The stories of Afiq, Faizah, Sarini, and Suriana inspire us to continue innovating and investing in solutions that make a positive impact.
“As Shopee expands its services and capabilities, we remain dedicated to fostering economic growth, supporting local businesses, and enhancing the shopping experience for all Malaysians,” said Tan Ming Kit, Head of Marketing and Business Intelligence at Shopee Malaysia.
Afiq and Faizah, founders of A&F Berkat Borneo in the Klang Valley, transitioned from selling dried produce and specialty goods at local night markets to a thriving online business on Shopee.
Previously, their business was subject to unpredictable weather and fluctuating customer traffic, making financial stability a challenge. In 2018, they turned to Shopee, and their business has since grown remarkably—from RM80,000 in their first year to a projected RM500,000 by 2024.
“We used to worry about rain affecting our sales, but Shopee opened doors we never imagined. With their logistics solutions, we can now reach customers across Malaysia, even on rainy days. Shopee has given us a stable income and transformed our lives,” said Faizah, co-founder of A&F Berkat Borneo.
Their success has also benefited suppliers from Kedah, Perak, Penang, and Johor. As demand grew, suppliers expanded operations, hired more staff, and invested in better transportation.
Beyond growing their business, Afiq and Faizah now mentor housewives in their community, teaching them how to earn side incomes through Shopee’s Affiliate Program, promoting financial independence and community development.
Similarly, The Pastels Shop, founded by skincare enthusiast Sarini Zainal Abidin, leveraged Shopee’s logistics to scale nationwide. What started as a local business now boasts a flagship store and warehouse, creating over 70 part-time jobs, especially in Banting and Shah Alam.
“Shopee’s logistics network was key to our growth, helping us scale our operations and create local jobs,” said Sarini. Shopee’s reach also allowed her to penetrate competitive markets like the East Coast, overcoming logistical challenges to deliver skincare products efficiently.
Kimchi Suren Suria, led by Suriana Ali Endut, also scaled rapidly thanks to Shopee’s support. Suriana successfully navigated the complexities of shipping perishable goods like kimchi to distant regions, including Sabah and Sarawak, turning logistical challenges into opportunities for growth.
“Shopee’s logistics network allowed us to ship nationwide, even to remote areas,” said Suriana. This support not only expanded her customer base but also helped her secure better equipment and financial stability, improving her production efficiency and personal mobility.
As Malaysia’s leading e-commerce platform, Shopee continues to innovate with key logistics partners to ensure faster, more reliable deliveries. With its On-Time Guarantee, Shopee promises timely deliveries and compensation for delays, ensuring a seamless shopping experience.
By helping rural sellers reach new markets and transforming local businesses into national success stories, Shopee remains committed to driving economic growth and creating opportunities for all Malaysians.
