Fintech startup Qashier today unveiled its QashierPay Soundbox in Malaysia, a revolutionary QR payment terminal designed to elevate the safety and security of digital payments and support businesses as they digitize.
According to a consumer fraud survey conducted by FICO, real-time payment scams are on the rise, with payment fraud now the top financial crime concern for 32% of Malaysians. As more businesses transition to digital payment solutions, there is an urgent need for measures to counter these scams.
In response, Qashier has introduced the QashierPay Soundbox in Malaysia. Equipped with real-time auditory alert capabilities, the QashierPay Soundbox ensures merchants receive immediate notifications upon the successful and accurate receipt of payments. This innovative plug-and-play terminal is designed to be the easiest and most affordable way for businesses to accept QR payments, making it a game-changer for merchants handling quick and high-flow transactions, such as hawkers and mini-marts.
Since piloting the Soundbox in May this year, Qashier has onboarded over 1,500 merchants, primarily from the F&B and retail sectors, and has processed nearly 2 million transactions within two months.
The new QashierPay Soundbox offers merchants and consumers an enhanced payment experience with several key benefits:

- Wide Acceptance: Accepts major e-wallet QR payments and DuitNow-enabled apps, including TNG e-wallet, Shopee Pay, BigPay, and more.

- Real-Time Transaction History: Displays up to five recent transactions on the device and provides full sales reports via the QashierHQ merchant portal.
- Trilingual Support: Offers audio notifications in English, Malay, and Mandarin.
- Next-Day Payout: Ensures merchants receive payouts the next business day, improving cash flow.
- Portability: Wi-Fi and SIM-enabled for flexible off-site usage at events or bazaars.
- Compact Design: Fits seamlessly on any checkout counter with a sleek, compact design.
“It was natural for us to launch in Malaysia following the strong reception of the QashierPay Soundbox in Singapore. As Malaysia progresses towards a cashless and digital-first society, we are committed to supporting SMEs on this journey,” said Travis Kok, Senior Vice President, SEA of Qashier.

The first 1,000 businesses to register between July 24, 2024, and August 31, 2024, can order the QashierPay Soundbox at a promotional price of RM199. Each QashierPay Soundbox comes with a SIM card and 12 months of free data. Merchants will also have access to the QashierHQ online merchant portal to monitor transactions.
These incentives are part of Qashier’s SME Support Package (QSP), an ongoing effort to drive the adoption of digital payment solutions among SMEs.
Qashier launched QashierPay, its payment solution, in 2022 and has since processed over US$1 billion in transactions. Today, Qashier serves over 7,000 merchants across four key markets – Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Thailand.
QashierPay Soundbox is available in Singapore and Malaysia and will gradually roll out across other markets, including the Philippines and Thailand.
