UOB Malaysia has introduced The Business Circle in Malaysia, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at preparing the future leaders of family-led enterprises across Asia. Following its successful launch in Singapore in 2019 and Thailand in 2023, The Business Circle has expanded its community to include over a thousand family businesses of various scales, ranging from large corporations to small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) throughout the region, including Malaysia.

As members of The Business Circle, participants gain access to exclusive knowledge exchange, extensive networking opportunities spanning the region, and bespoke financial support from the Bank.

Ng Wei Wei, CEO of UOB Malaysia, emphasised the critical role that family businesses play in driving economic growth within Malaysia and the wider ASEAN region.

The initiative leverages UOB’s regional expertise and expansive network to provide the next generation of family business leaders in Malaysia with a platform for cross-border knowledge exchange and networking, ensuring they possess the necessary knowledge, skills, and connections to propel their businesses to greater heights.

The launch of The Business Circle in Malaysia was accompanied by a two-day program focused on peer learning, knowledge sharing, and networking, with a particular emphasis on key business drivers such as Sustainability, Regional Expansion, and Digitalisation.

Through industry visits, executive forums, and networking events, participants had the opportunity to learn from successful business leaders and engage with peers facing similar challenges.

The program featured insights from visionary leaders like Tan Sri Sir Dr Jeffrey Cheah KBE AO, Founder and Chairman of Sunway Group, offering invaluable perspectives on building sustainable businesses that thrive across generations.

The launch event, held at the Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur and attended by Deputy Minister of Investment, Trade, and Industry Malaysia, Liew Chin Tong, provided a platform for dialogue on Malaysia’s growth opportunities and the importance of a nation-building mindset among future business leaders.

The Business Circle initiative underscores UOB Malaysia’s commitment to supporting the growth and sustainability of family businesses in Malaysia and across ASEAN, fostering connectivity, and driving economic progress for generations to come.
