The rapid rise of Generative AI is fueling a growing recognition of its significance among learners, leading to a remarkable surge in demand for generative AI learning content on Coursera. In April alone, on-platform searches for generative AI courses saw a staggering 230% year-on-year increase, says Marni Baker Stein, chief content officer at Coursera.

Coursera has been actively listening to learner feedback about the practical application of new generative AI skills in their careers, as well as from employers eager to scale these skills across their workforce for enhanced customer offerings and productivity.

To meet this global demand, Coursera has recently unveiled the ChatGPT plugin and an expanded array of generative AI projects, courses, and Specializations.

Personalized Guidance with ChatGPT Plugin

Coursera has introduced a ChatGPT plugin directly within the ChatGPT interface. This innovative feature combines the power of generative AI with Coursera’s extensive catalog of 5,800+ courses, 3,500+ projects, 750+ Specializations, and 50+ degrees to provide learners with personalized guidance.

To access the plugin, Marni said learners need to be ChatGPT Plus users and enable the Plugins option in their account settings. Once enabled, learners can search for “Coursera” in the plugin store and install it for free. The plugin acts as an academic counselor, helping learners identify relevant courses and offering brief descriptions and direct links.

This marks a significant expansion of Coursera’s generative AI-powered offerings, extending beyond its previous offerings like the Coursera Coach and course-building tool to support learners both on and off the Coursera platform.

Diverse Learning Content from Leading Educators

Given the ever-evolving landscape of AI, Marni noted thAT Coursera acknowledges the constant demand for cutting-edge AI courses. Consequently, Coursera has curated a collection of over 20 generative AI-focused learning resources, suitable for learners of all levels, from beginners looking to sharpen their skills to Chief Human Resources Officers (CHROs) preparing their workforce for ongoing disruption.

Coursera’s expanded course offerings encompass a wide range of AI-related skills, including machine learning, linear algebra, Python, and more.

Notable beginner projects, courses, and specialisations include “Getting Started with Generative AI API Specialization” by Codio, “ChatGPT for Beginners: SciFi Writing with Dall-e” by Coursera Project Network, and “GenAI for Everyone” by Fractal Analytics, among others.

For more advanced learners, Marni said Coursera offers Intermediate/Advanced Projects, Courses, and Specializations tailored to further enhance their expertise and proficiency. These include offerings like “Deep Learning with PyTorch: Generative Adversarial Network” and “Machine Learning with ChatGPT: Image Classification Model,” among others.
