Internet Alliance Malaysia, a non-profit entity representing the core assembly of internet service and digital infrastructure providers in Malaysia, has made a significant announcement regarding the inauguration of its pioneering Talent Development Programme.
In close collaboration with the National Association of Private Educational Institutions (NAPEI) and the Malaysian Digital Association (MDA), this initiative is strategically orchestrated to foster the growth of digitally adept individuals, poised to address the escalating demand for technological careers within the burgeoning digital economy.
This project enjoys the backing of over 130 member enterprises, all of whom are seeking to fulfill diverse roles necessitated by the remarkable expansion of the industry.
This collaborative alliance emerges during a juncture where the necessity for tech-savvy talent has assumed paramount importance. In light of Malaysia’s stature as a robust digital investment nucleus within the ASEAN region, the nation’s tech economy has reaped more than RM7 billion in investments within a mere six months.
Consequently, a substantial requirement has arisen for proficient professionals skilled in data science, software engineering, programming, fintech, and cybersecurity, even in the face of the nation’s struggle to mitigate brain drain from pivotal technological sectors.
“Given Malaysia’s current drive to fortify its digital aspirations and educational infrastructure, Internet Alliance underscores, with heightened conviction, the significance of collaborative talent cultivation involving academia, industry, government, and society.
“As an organization dedicated to empowering our tech talent, we’ve meticulously curated this tailor-made programme to confer value upon all stakeholders, particularly as a stepping stone for undergraduates to seize the myriad opportunities within our vibrant Internet-based economy,” said Sunny Ooi, president of Internet Alliance.
Within the framework of this program, the contributing members will assume roles as coaches and mentors, endowing participants with top-tier professional training encompassing cloud platforms, digital media, networking, software development, and business engagement.
The modules are calibrated to align with industry requisites, granting participants the privilege of immersing themselves in industrial training and hands-on sessions. This preparatory exposure not only primes them for future work placements but also augments their employability quotient.
Gavin Loh, who spearheads IA’s Talent Development Chapter, added, “Beyond the application of their theoretical knowledge in real-world scenarios, the participating students will have a unique vantage point to engage with CEOs, business proprietors, and technopreneurs.
“Learning directly from their leadership is an opportunity that gains a distinct edge due to the rich cultural diversity inherent in our local mentors and business panorama, and we firmly believe that such an experience will significantly broaden their horizons.”
Concurrently, Internet Alliance will extend its guidance to these budding graduates, fostering their ability to navigate entrepreneurial landscapes and cultivate essential competencies.
In this journey, participants will receive comprehensive training from collaborating founders and CEOs, addressing an array of topics spanning sales and marketing, operational management, personal and business financial acumen, as well as value creation.
The Talent Development Programme marks the maiden phase within Internet Alliance’s comprehensive three-stage initiative aimed at upskilling, reskilling, and empowering homegrown talents through strategic ecosystem partnerships. Subsequent phases of the campaign will prioritize collaboration with select academic institutions to provide industry-recognized short courses tailored for a broader array of learners.
